German Taxi Ad Device
Posted by plurk in Uncategorized on August 31st, 2007
What happens when you combine German ingenuity, an important safety message, and urinal for capital gain? A need for speed-like game which tends to involve a lot of crashes and messages like “Too Drunk to Drive? Take a Taxi.” The images below are in English, but the device is being designed for the Frankfurt taxi service to encourage drinkers to take a taxi home instead of driving drunk. Kind of a neat idea … however, I wonder if you could combine it with some sort of sensor to determine blood-alcohol levels … not quite sure if that is possible though … but that would be sweeter.

New Washing Machine?

Interesting idea. This device uses ionized air to clean clothes … it looks neat and is environmentally friendlier than a washer/dryer as well. I’m in … if you show me how it removes a stain.

Now this is a cool building idea. Add a new star to a city’s night sky. Read more about it here.

Canoeing for Bottoms

It might just have been the picture (see below), but when I first saw this, the only thought I had was “Sex in a canoe just became a lot more amusing.” Creepy? Perhaps, but it is a transparent canoe! That is amusing and creepy in one.

Brixes can be fun!
Posted by plurk in Uncategorized on August 31st, 2007
This is by far one of the coolest technological gadgets I’ve seen in a while … assuming it works as advertised. The Brix is a phone, and an iPhone-level cool phone. Depending on the feature set, perhaps even an iPhone killer. The entire surface is a touchscreen, meaning you have the full screen for display. Moreover, multiple bricks connect together to share screen real estate, meaning you can build larger displays with more phones. So let’s say this device does HSPDA (the new GSM broadband wireless tech) or better technology. You are at the bar with three friends and they all have a Brix phone. You hook them together and you can watch TV on a fairly decently sized screen … in the example, they have a sports game … now, this is all still at the concept level … so it could just all be vapour, but the idea looks amazing.

Digital “Polaroid” Camera
Posted by plurk in Uncategorized on August 31st, 2007
Let me start by stating that the camera below is not made by Polaroid, and thus isn’t _technically_ a Polaroid camera … however, since the company name has become synonmous with a type of camera, I kind of have to use it.

I found this link rather amusing since Dave and I on Tuesday night were talking about Polaroid cameras … well Zink integrated a digital camera with a photo printer … meaning you could take a photo and print it off immediately. Very cool, no?
Babushka Dolls for Geeks

Art Lebedev Studios (famous for the really cool looking Optimus Keyboards, which have yet to be sold) has created a really geeky set of Babushka dolls.

It even includes the indivisible bit.
Cool eh?
