Stargate = Farscape?!
Posted by plurk in Uncategorized on January 31st, 2005
Details on Season 9 of Stargate SG-1 seem to be rather interesting. First off we have the Five episode story arc involving Vala (Claudia Black), who was introduced in Prometheus Unbounded during this Season. Secondly, it has been revealed taht SG-1 will become an active off-world team again under the command of a new Lt. Colonel played by Ben Browder. The gist of his backstory is that he was one of the squadron leaders of the X-302 what fought over Antartica. He was shot down and severally injured, and when he recovered, he was given his choice of assignments … he picks SG-1. With both Claudia Black and Ben Browder on the show, it’s beginning to look a lot like Farscape.
From the Slashdot article on it:
[Ben]’s going from playing a USAF pilot of an experimental vessel who gains knowledge of wormholes to fight aliens, to a USAF pilot who uses wormholes to fight aliens.

It’s a slow Monday and some of you might just need a good laugh to get you through the day after the wonderous letharic actions of the weekend. Stop whatever you’re doing, and look at the Sexy Beast (via The Adventures of Accordion Guy in the 21st Century).

Jebediah: [on film] A noble spirit embiggens the smallest man.
Edna: Embiggens? I never heard that word before I moved
to Springfield
Ms.Hoover: I don't know why. It's a perfectly cromulent word.
For the definition of cromulent, see Webster’s New Millenniumâ„¢ Dictionary of English.

Was going over apple’s QT today… and noticed another lovely movie by Tim Burton. (mp4 can be found here).
Also noticed that Apple Seed (the remake) has hit N. American shores on Jan 15, so should also likely make our DVD list. For those of you who haven’t seen the preview, you can view it here
TV Transcripts Search Engine

Thanks You Google! video.google.com allows one to search through closed captions from TV. For example: “Frickin’ Polar Bears!” nets the correct result. Other quotes I attempted were not as successful, like the scene from the same episode of Lost starting with “This is bad.”. If they ever getting it working 100%, I think this is going to be big.
[close up of Jack and Michael's Face. Serious expressions on their faces]
Jack: “This is bad.”
Michael: “Yeah. I mean, I know what I would do, but…this has gotta be your call.”
Jack: “Alright…”
[pulls back to reveal a golf course]
Jack: “give me the 7 iron.”
The epsiode of Lost was written by David Fury, who those who watch Angel know him, if not by name, by style. The scene above is one of his trademark scenes. “We get a close-up shot of two characters talking about something seemingly dangerous portentous… and then the camera drops back to show they’re discussing a totally trivial matter.” — TVTome.

Every Buffy character, episode, cast member, writer and director and every word of every show, in a searchable database.
The best part, I finally know who penned my favourite soliloquy of the series, David Tyron King (aka Ty King).
ANGELUS
Passion.
It lies in all of us.
Sleeping…
…waiting…
And though unwanted…
…unbidden…
it will stir…
…open its jaws, and howl.
It speaks to us…
guides us…
Passion rules us all.
And we obey.
What other choice do we have?
Passion is the source of our finest moments.
The joy of love…
the clarity of hatred…
and the ecstasy of grief.
It hurts sometimes more than we can bear.
If we could live without passion,
maybe we’d know some kind of peace.
But we would be hollow.
Empty rooms, shuttered and dank…
Without passion, we’d be truly dead.Buffy The Vampire Slayer 029-2-27 Passion

It looks like British Telecom has been vigilantly protecting their Tsunami donation website, right? Apparently, the reality of the situation involves a lot more stupidity, and a lot less competence.
Ryan Reynolds is in town!
Posted by plurk in Uncategorized on January 27th, 2005
My spy (Delg) has reported that Amy Smart was in Best Buy the other day. They are apparently filming a movie here in Regina (and Moose Jaw so the rumours go) and that is the reason Albert St. shuts down between 9pm and 6am around Hill Ave. He also mentioned that he heard on the news that Ryan Reynolds is in town. From that, it can only be one movie: Just Friends. It appears to be a chick flick, but I find Ryan Reynolds antics on the screen very entertaining. I wonder what he’s like in person … someone find out for me, okay? From the posts on IMDB, Ryan Reynolds and his wife, Alanis Morissette, have been spotted at McNally’s.

And if you think we’ve got it cold, they are freezing their patooties in Regina, where they are shooting the romantic comedy Just Friends, starring Ryan Reynolds, still pumped up good from his role in Blade: Trinity, Amy Smart, Anna Faris and Chris Klein.

The thing is, the article was from Sunday’s Toronto Star … It’s been warm here during this week and the later bits of last.
