Deutschland ist Versenden von Spam

What is Spam? Spam is that lovely bunch of unsollicated e-mail which shows up in most inboxes on a daily basis. Spam stands for Stupid People’s Advertisment, which is what it usually is. Tocsic sent me a series of spam messages today that are from Deutschland (Germany) auf Deutsch (in German). Unlike most spam, they have valid headers, contain many URLS, and are not commericial in their nature, but rather political. The Neo-Natzi’s have hit the Internet …

A brief synoposis of the situtation in Germany. The reunification of Germany has resulted in a wave of “xenophobia” that has culminated in acts of discrimination and violence against many non-Germans. After World War II, Germany was devastated, but the US and other countries spent a large amount of time and money rebuilding West Germany. This reconstruction resulted in what was called a “Wirtschaftswunder” (an economic miracle). The problem was a severe shortage of labour. This resulted in the idea of a “Gastarbeiter” (which literally translates as Guest Worker). Gastarbeiters were drawn mostly from Turkey, but included others from Italy and Yugoslavia. The idea was that they’d fill in the temporary labour shortages, then return home when the Wirtschaftswunder ended. Most Gastarbeiters by that point, though, had formed social and economic ties to Germany and didn’t want to leave, so they stayed

Now this wasn’t a major problem until reunifications. Many people from the former East Germany were unemployable and resentment of foreign “who stole their jobs” was high. Since that point, this resentment has grown.

In any case, I think you have enough background now to follow this.

Now the interesting thing to note is the website name itself, “Volksgemeinschaft”. Gemeinschaft means community or solidary and Volk can mean either Federal (as in Federal Germany) or People, but not just any people, the German people. Considering the tone of the message I think the writer might have meant the Aryan race itself. As a non-german speaker, this translates either to National Solidarity or Aryan Solidarity. Either way, it appears to be a Neo-Nazi-ish website. The article expresses fear that since Poland, Turkey, and other Eastern European nations have joined the EU, they will all flee from their economically troubled nations into the prosperous Germany and ruin it.

Text:
10.12.2002 Hamburg-Hamm:

Now I’m not translating all that, it’s too long. What is basically is about is an incident in Germany where two 13-year old foreign boys tried to rape a 12-year old german girl in a school washroom … or something like that. See the boys were foreigners and apparently their punishment was two days suspension. Not overly clear on this, I haven’t really run through and translated it fully (apologies). From the information provided, I have been unable to confirm the story though it appears to be new-ish in its style.

I can’t load the page, but I can translate the domain name for ya all: auslaenderstopp. Or rather Ausländer Stopp, translates to Stop Foreigners. Once again I suspect this is another from our Anti-Foreigner Neo-Nazi’s again. Apparently the domain name will not resolve for myself.

I’d quote the entire e-mail, but it is long and I figure you can figure you the gist from the subject and the first line. The full text is available here.

It’s a blog of sorts. Now I really didn’t read this but I found the disclaimer at the top amusing:

The Altermedia team has been informed that people have received Spam linking to Altermedia Germany. Altermedia has nothing to do with this Spam. This Spam does not originate from our server! We knew nothing about it until people started contacting us. We strongly condemn spamming which we consider a nuisance for everybody. People who want to get our mails can subscribe, and if they wish to do so, later unsubscribe to our mail lists; in order to get legitimate mails.
We believe that the this Spam is an attempt by the enemies of free speech to shut us down.
We apologize for the inconvenience but please understand these e-mails did not come from Altermedia.info.

In any case, I have been forwarded literally hundreds of e-mails long this line and it would take me days to post them all … which I will probably do so I can delete the massive mess from my mailbox. As an interesting side note, Thunderbird doesn’t like massive numbers of attachments … it gets all confuzzled.
